Attachment and Child Development

This course aims to support staff in their role as a care provider by developing an understanding of children and young people with lived trauma.

Delegates explore attachment theory, its impact on children at various stages of their life and how it affects on-going development. We aim to provide an awareness of developmental needs, particularly for children and young people in care.

To support carers in practice, delegates are presented with effective strategies through the use of play, hobbies and interests, that aid young people in their learning and development. Crucially, these strategies underpin the importance of relationships and the contribution provided by carers, family and other social networks made in a young persons life.

Sexual expoitation is an umbrella term for a range of negative sexual experiences that involve varying degrees of coercion. Young people are expoited through criminal activities, commonly providing sex in exchange for drugs or somewhere to stay.
