Attachment and Child Development
This course aims to support staff in their role as a care provider by developing an understanding of children and young people with lived trauma.
Delegates explore attachment theory, its impact on children at various stages of their life and how it affects on-going development. We aim to provide an awareness of developmental needs, particularly for children and young people in care.
To support carers in practice, delegates are presented with effective strategies through the use of play, hobbies and interests, that aid young people in their learning and development. Crucially, these strategies underpin the importance of relationships and the contribution provided by carers, family and other social networks made in a young persons life.

Child Sexual Exploitation
Currently highlighted in the media as a more recognised form of abuse in relation to children and young people. Sexual expoitation is an umbrella term for a range of negative sexual experiences that involve varying degrees of coercion. Young people are expoited through criminal activities, commonly providing sex in exchange for drugs or somewhere to stay. As with safeguarding, this course is a must for those working with children or vulnerable young people.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
This course provides an introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is a forward thinking talking therapy focusing on how thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect feelings and behaviour.
The aim is to develop tools and coping strategies that help individuals deal with a range of issues presented in a variety of situations.

Safeguarding
Level 2/3
This course looks at the historical impact of safeguarding and how high profile reports have shaped law. Delegates learn to identify the different catagories of abuse, the range of risk factors that leave adults/children open to abuse including how social media is transforming the landscape. The course develops an awareness of the signs and symptoms of abuse, reporting and record keeping procedures and the differences in legislation across different regions.
Level 3 looks at safeguarding responsibilities and procedure in a leadership role.

Behaviour Management
Behaviour management training is designed to look at presenting behaviours and understanding the context in which they occur. By exploring the reasons behind behaviour, and developing an awareness of how it's used as a form of language and communication, we can begin to find strategies that enable carers to work with young people in a positive and effective way.
The course equips carers with the skills to empower young people, manage situations effectively and motivate them in realising their true potential.
Strategies for success include addressing disruptive behaviour safely and effectively and motivational interview techniques.

Communication Skills
This course provides an in-depth look at how we communicate and listen in a variety of situations, and how others might respond. We explore and identify how inner thinking affectes the way an individual might communicate, and additionally, how we use non-verbal communication.
Crucially we develop an understanding of assertiveness and its impact on communication, and how we prepare for challenging situations in a range of situations. Skills in de-escalation are used to aid lines of communication and are supported by motivational interviewing to enforce positive communication and behaviours.

P.A.C.E.
PACE is an acronym that stands for Playfulness Acceptance Curiosity and Empathy. It's a course with high take-up amongst our clients, and is proven to have a positive effect on practice.
Crucially PACE offers a productive parenting model devised by Dan Hughes offering proven outcomes when helping children or young people with a traumatic past. The PACE model supports carers in forming a therapuetic relationship with a young person, in turn helping them overcome issues with attachment that impede their future development.

Attachment Disorders
This training looks back at early childhood experiences. It provides the opportunity to understand how neglect, abuse and separation from primary care givers result in future issues with trust, behavioural problems and an individuals ability to form relationships.
The course looks at how to reafirm relationships by gaining trust and the careful use of behaviour management and therapeutic approaches.
